Club Information

NEWENT AND DISTRICT MODEL AIRCRAFT CLUB BMFA Club number 489
Title.

The name of the club shall be the "Newent & District Model Aircraft Club" hereinafter referred to as " The Club" , and shall consist of maximum of 35 seniors, including an Executive Committee and an undefined number of junior members.


Aims and Objectives

To foster and encourage the construction and operation of all types of model aircraft by providing practical help in all aspects of model engineering and to provide facilities for all such aspects that the Club embraces.
The Club is dedicated to the encouragement of young people in modelling and makes this a condition of adult membership.


Constitution .


The officers of The Club shall consist of a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and as many other officers/committee members as may be deemed necessary by election at the Annual General meeting.
The committee shall meet as and when required and four members shall form a quorum. Voting shall be by the show of hands unless a request is made for voting by ballot. The Chairman shall have a casting vote.
Any six members or the Chairman can, by giving notice in writing to the secretary, request a Special General Meeting to be called stating the reason for such a meeting and the Secretary shall convene such a meeting within one month of receiving such notice.
Membership shall be by way of an annual subscription, with the provision that the committee reserves the right to impose a levy to cover unforeseen circumstances. Members under the age of 18years as at the 1 st January in the year of joining/renewing will pay a reduced amount.
The Club’s financial year shall end on the last day of September of each year and the Annual General Meeting shall be held in the last quarter of the year to receive the Annual Report, Statement of Accounts, to elect Officers and Committee Members and to transact any other business.
The Club and the BMFA subscriptions must be paid by the 31 st December each year to ensure continuity of Club membership and insurance cover. Any member who has not paid by that date shall be deemed to have resigned from The Club and shall not be allowed to fly at The Club’s flying field or participate in any of The Club events.
The Subscription fees shall be reviewed annually at the AGM and revised as necessary.
All payments on behalf of The Club shall be authorised by a quorum of the committee and the treasurer shall sign on behalf of The Club.

The Committee reserve the right to refuse membership to any prospective member who in their opinion would not be a suitable person to become a member. The committee reserve the right to recommend to an Extraordinary General Meeting after due notification of all members, that a member may be expelled from The Club, the decision being made by all those attending the meeting. Reimbursement of fees paid will be made for the remaining full quarters of the year.
The committee shall have the power to fill any vacancy arising in any office or on the committee during the year, in addition the power to co-opt onto the committee any member for any specific purpose.
Any committee member not attending any three consecutive meetings shall cease to act as a committee member and the committee shall forthwith fill the vacancy at the discretion of the Chairman.
All Radio Equipment must comply with the legal requirements and The Club cannot accept any liability for claims made against members who do not comply with this rule.
All members will be members of the BMFA, which includes third party insurance. This insurance cover specifically excludes public displays, unless special approval has been obtained from the BMFA prior to the event.
The operation of all models must at all times comply with the D of E code of practise and the BMFA members Handbook.


Noise Level Regulations .

The Club has imposed a maximum permitted noise level of 82 db this is to comply with the D of E code of practice and to minimise noise complaints.
No one will be allowed to operate any model until it has passed this test.
A model may be re-tested at any time if it is suspected that the noise level is being exceeded.

Juniors.


Every senior member is encouraged and expected to enter in some practical involvement with the junior members or for the well being of the Club.

New Members .


New members and Guests shall only be allowed to fly solo at the club flying field on proof of holding a BMFA ‘A’ certificate or when accompanied by a member who has a BMFA ‘A’ certificate.
New members when accepted will be allocated an unused frequency for their use.
Flying Field.
Members shall only fly at the flying field within the times specified on the Rules of the Flying field and in accordance with the terms of the lawful development certificate.
